This may be a critical time here in the Panhandle. Representative Matt Gaetz is in the middle of a federal investigation that could land him in serious legal trouble, and could potentially cost him a job. If that happens, we are prepared to do the work needed to put a true representative of our community in office.
Even before this recent story broke, we teamed up with Okaloosa and Escambia to protest outside of his first public appearance in the county in years. Click here to see highlights from that event.
Since then, our State Committeeman BJ Brunious has issued the following press release: Democratic Leadership Across The Florida Panhandle Call On The Resignation Of Congressman Matt Gaetz.
We are ready to fight for true leadership in this county and we’d love to have your help. Here’s how you can get involved.
Monthly Meeting
Our next monthly meeting is Thursday, April 15 at 6pm. We have a number of different initiatives in the works right now and this is a great opportunity to hear more about them and figure out where you’d like to fit in.
You can register for the meeting here: https://www.mobilize.us/santarosacountydems/event/373146.
You are also welcome to attend any of our other local Democratic meetings:
The Democratic Black Caucus is meeting on Thursday, April 8 at 6pm. For more information, please contact Desi Lee at santarosadbc@gmail.com.
The Democratic Women’s Club is meeting on Monday, April 26 at 6pm. For more information, please contact Cecilia Newman at 850-450-7518 or cjn.santarosademocraticwomen@gmail.com.
Action Alerts
I’m sure you’ve noticed that we are regularly sending out action alerts about important pieces of legislation in front of both our county and state governments.
Each action alert contains a concise explanation of the issue, bullet points explaining why we are either for or against it, and contact information for the legislators who need to hear from us. They are designed to make it as easy as possible for you to make your voice heard and make a difference in the policies both here and statewide.
We would encourage you to act quickly on these action alerts whenever possible. We truly believe that we can make a difference when we act as a unified group.
And if you have any questions about these action alerts, or any input on how we can improve them, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We would love to get your feedback.
COVID Vaccinations
Everyone over the age of 18 is now eligible to receive a COVID vaccine in the state of Florida, and children age 16-17 can receive a vaccine with parental permission. You can register and check your status at https://myvaccine.fl.gov.
The CDC is also doing a great job of keeping their guidelines up to date, and you can find all of that information here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
Thank You
Thank you for all that you are doing. We know that this continues to be a difficult time for everyone and we genuinely appreciate all of your efforts.
If you have any feedback or questions for us, you can reach us at 850-396-1935 or santarosadems@gmail.com. We will always be happy to hear from you.
In the meantime, stay safe and have a great week!
